Why do dogs get parvovirus?

Most small dogs are infected. Small transmission speed is terrible, air, feces, saliva and so on can transmit the virus.

In particular, young dogs have weak resistance, and compared with adult dogs, they are more likely to be infected by the outside world.

My koala just went out to play with other dogs and came back with a series of symptoms.

How was parvo detected and what were the symptoms?

First: Posture and movement

Canine parvovirus mainly attacks the stomach and intestines of dogs. The stomach and intestines of dogs with parvovirus will be very painful. The symptoms are the arch back of Buddha worship (which is the manifestation of severe pain in dogs), a bit like pouting buttocks. At that time, I thought that the koala's sleeping posture was like this, but later I found that it was repeatedly tossing and turning, even if its eyes were squinting, it would always pout its buttocks, and I found out that it might be sick.

Second: dropping

The most typical symptom of parvo is persistent diarrhea in dogs. At first, it was dry and slightly watery, which I thought was the reason why the dog ate too messy. The poop that comes out later is as red as a tomato, and there will be a lot of poop on the buttocks, and the dog will moan in a low voice, because the virus has broken the dog's intestinal tract, the intestinal tract is bleeding a lot, and then discharged. At this time, the dog's feces usually has a sour odor. (This is the most typical symptom of parvo.)

Third: loss of appetite

When gastrointestinal pain begins, the dog's spirit will be tortured and his appetite will drop very quickly. Just like when people are sick, they must be very anorexic. At this time, dogs do not want to eat anything, even their favorite snacks, at most, just look at them, and then hide in the corner and groan.

How to detect

If you want to accurately check whether your dog has parvovirus, you must be tested for parvovirus. At home, you can find a regular channel to buy a small test board, insert a cotton swab into the dog's anus and turn around a few times, preferably to scrape the intestinal wall. Mix in the reagent and drop it on the detection plate. Two positive bars indicate that the dog has been infected with parvovirus.

How to treat parvovirus?

First: Fasting and water deprivation

If it is confirmed to be parvovirus, the first thing we need to do is to give the dog food and water. If the dog eats food and drinks water, it will increase its load and aggravate its condition. But we can feed the dog with glucose water to supplement the dog's energy and prevent the dog from collapsing.

Second: Take the dog to see a doctor in time.

Small, do not drag. When we found the koala dead for hours, it was already 11pm. My girlfriend and I bundled up the dog and went to the hospital. The streets are sparsely populated in the middle of the night, not to mention looking for a veterinary shop. Fortunately, a friend introduced me to a clinic for temporary contact. After

treatment:

the doctor test paper immediately after the infusion of fluid, has been infusion until 3 o'clock in the morning, the main infusion of some anti-inflammatory drugs to ease the pain, and with glucose to enhance physical strength. At the end of the morning, you can see that the dog's spirit is much better. He went to the clinic at 10 o'clock

the next morning and had an infusion until 6 o'clock in the afternoon. The main drugs are gentamicin, glucose, vitamins, sodium bicarbonate, sodium chloride, serum, human albumin and so on. On

the third day, it was obviously much better, but we still gave the dog an infusion all afternoon. There is still no change in the drug, mainly because the injection volume has decreased. It costs more than one thousand yuan for

three days. The first day and the second day are a little more expensive, and the third day is a little cheaper. Because the clinic is small and remote, the cost is not very high.

Nursing after being cured

Dietary care should be careful

It is not suitable to make a big supplement after it is small. The so-called deficiency is not supplemented.

1. Feed liquid soft food. You can eat porridge for half a month, from thin to thick, porridge can gradually add a small amount of chicken, fried carrots, one third of the egg yolk, or pork liver (pork liver first cut into small pieces, then boiled), pay attention to the gradual addition, more haste, less speed.

2. Probiotic conditioning. Probiotics are added to each meal, or they can be dissolved in water. Note that there are feeding methods and recommended amounts of probiotics.

3. Nutritional soup or porridge. You can cook some pork bone soup or beef soup, but pork bone soup can only be eaten after 2 weeks of conditioning, or like pork liver, it can be mixed in porridge. After another 2 weeks, it will recover almost. After that, you can mix pork bone soup with rice. Rice may not be suitable for dogs, but it is stronger than harmful substances in ordinary dog food. You can buy good dog food to eat together.

4. Feeding principle. Eat small meals every day, and the food must be melted at each meal. As long as the dog is willing to eat, the fight against small is more than half successful.

Increase companionship and interaction

As the dog's appetite increases, the owner can play with her more. I pet the koala every day when I feed her, from head to tail. If you play with her more, she will feel that her condition is getting better, and at the same time enhance her confidence in curing parvovirus. Don't think that the dog doesn't know, she can understand the feelings, and will feel your emotional encouragement.

Final advice: dogs must be vaccinated on time. My koala was not vaccinated in time when it was picked up, which caused such serious consequences later. The dog suffered and the owner was distressed. If the dog is already sick, be sure to disinfect all parts of the house and utensils to prevent parvovirus from remaining.
