A sudden outbreak of novel coronavirus pneumonia has caught people across the country by surprise, and many pets have been seriously affected. Separated from their owners, alone at home, and forced to live in a strange environment for a long time, many owners overcome all kinds of difficulties and dangers and finally get together with their pets, only to find that they have a stress reaction. What should I do? Don't panic. I'll give you a few tips.
What is pet stress?
Pet stress refers to the process of adaptive response of pet body to various internal and external stimuli, which is a systemic adaptive response. Simply put, stress can be understood as pressure or stimulation. Stress and stimulation are not only caused by stimuli, but also related to individual's understanding of stressors and personal experience in dealing with stress events.
Adverse reactions to pet stress
When there is no owner to accompany, for pets with strong dependence, staying in a closed situation for a long time will cause serious psychological injury. Common behaviors include vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, biting, aggression, accelerated organ failure and even acute injury.
Measures to deal with stress reaction
1. Some owners say that pets are uncomfortable, so let them be quiet. This idea is not desirable, should touch it, accompany it, talk to it, or take out toys to play with it, do not put it aside, give the pet a warm and safe comfortable atmosphere.
2. Some owners feel guilty that they haven't accompanied their pets for so long, so they give them a lot of delicious food when they meet. This situation is not necessary, the food should be as consistent as possible with the pet's previous food, not excessive consumption of snacks, etc., to reduce the gastrointestinal discomfort caused by stress response.
3. Don't go out or change the environment at this time, so as to reduce the stimulation of strangers and unfamiliar environment to pets.
4. Some special probiotics can be properly fed to pets to regulate metabolic imbalance and electrolyte disorder caused by stress reaction, so as to achieve the balance of flora in the body, enhance the resistance of pets and reduce stress reaction.
5. If pathological changes are found, they need to be sent to the hospital immediately so as not to delay the opportunity of treatment.
As a shoveling officer, when facing the stress reaction of pets, we must not panic too much. As long as we take timely intervention measures, warm companionship, and help pets to do a good job of anti-stress, babies can recover.
