Leash is not to restrict the dog's freedom, but to ensure its safety, correct its bad behavior in time, and respect for strangers.

To become a good shoveling officer, the correct choice of traction rope knowledge can be well reserved, today to explain one or two.

The traction rope is divided into two parts: the traction belt and the traction end. The selection of the appropriate traction rope can be considered from the aspects of type, function, bearing capacity, size, etc. (And face value, of course!)! But after all, each has his own love, so I will not mention it in this article.

Type of pulling end

There are roughly three types of traction ends: chest and back, collar, and P chain.

Chest and back

Chest and back style has more body contact with the dog, and the force is more uniform, so the dog will feel more comfortable. For small dogs, a chest-back leash is a good choice.

My zongzi is also used in this way. At the beginning, I used the back type chest and back. The advantage is that it is cheap, light and easy to wear. The disadvantage is that the dog is easier to break free in the process of struggling, the restraint is not good, and because the rope is thin, I think it will be more strangled when it bursts.

Later, it was replaced by a saddle chest and back (you can see if this style is like a saddle for horses). The advantage is that it is handsome, can be labeled, and it is not easy to break free, so it will not cause any harm to the dog. In addition to the traction ring, there is also an explosive handle, which can hold the dog if it explodes. The disadvantage is that the summer belt is slightly thick and feels hot.

It should be noted that because of the poor binding force of the chest and back leash on dogs, dogs are more likely to pull hard, so shoveling officers often check whether the skin of their shoulder straps is abraded.

A collar

theory, the more uncomfortable the dog's restraint tool is, the stronger the restraint on them is. For medium and large dogs that are relatively large, not very obedient, and strong, the collar is a better choice. The owner can better control them. Otherwise, if the dog rushes carelessly, it will lead the owner to a fall.

Collars are made of leather, nylon, iron and other materials. Choose the collar with the right length according to the dog's neck. When using the collar, it should be slightly loose, and the pressed hair should come down smoothly from the collar. It is generally believed that the width of two fingers can still be put in after the collar is buckled.

If the dog itself has respiratory disease, then it is better not to use a collar, use a chest strap, for their health and safety. And the puppy should pay special attention. It's better to take off the collar when he is alone, so as to avoid being caught and strangled when he is not paying attention.

P-chain

P chain has several materials: metal, leather, nylon, hard and strong, correct the dog's wrong behavior, P chain is the best choice. But under the guidance of professionals, do not blindly operate, with the wrong method of use, not only can not let the dog develop good habits, but make the dog go out every time like torture, that is counterproductive.

Type of traction belt

The traction belt is also divided into two types, one is fixed type and the other is telescopic type.

Fixed type

Fixed with ordinary rope and metal chain texture, small dog rope texture is enough, metal chain is more suitable for large and medium-sized dogs, because they have great strength, easy to pull the rope. Zongzi uses a short belt at the beginning, with a length of 1.2 meters. Its advantage is that it allows dogs to walk around, which is easy to control and durable. The disadvantage is that it can only run within a radius of 1.2 meters with me as the center of the circle, which is relatively limited. If the dog bursts, the rope will strangle the hand, and the shoveling officer needs to have a very good control over the dog, so it will not be led around by the dog.

Telescopic

In order to make Zongzi have more space to move within my control, I replaced it with a telescopic traction rope with a maximum stretching length of 3 meters. The advantage is that the handle is comfortable to hold, the nylon rope is thin and resistant to pulling, and the control button decides whether to put a long line, and the rope has the function of automatically retracting back. The disadvantage is that the telescopic function of the rope is easy to break. There is a clockwork spring inside the telescopic traction rope, which is similar to the structure of our commonly used box ruler. If the dog keeps pulling the rope forward to the maximum extent, the spring will easily collapse and the rope will not be able to recover. Although Zongzi is a small dog, it has torn three or four.

The retractable leash has different designs for large, medium and small dogs, so choose according to the length of extension you need and the weight of the dog you can bear.

Size of hauling rope

In addition to the type of leash, you should also choose the right size according to the size of your dog. If the size is too large to stop, the dog is easy to break free. When the dog rushes forward, the loose leash will make it encounter a lot of reverse resistance in an instant, which makes it more vulnerable to injury. If the size is too small, too thin and too tight, the dog will feel uncomfortable and even choke, so it is important to choose the right size according to the dog's chest, neck, shoulder width and so on.

Bearing capacity of traction rope

When choosing a suitable leash, we should also consider the leash suitable for the dog's weight and tension, otherwise it is likely that the leash will break because of the dog's excessive tension. Flesch's criteria can be used as a reference:
