Recognize "Going Out Phobia"

What is "fear of going out"?

"Going out phobia", also known as "going out phobia", refers to the dog's fear of the environment other than place where he lives, and also a fear of "unknown". Just as children have a fear of things they haven't seen, dogs have a fear of the unknown. There are generally two reasons for the problem, socialization (seeing more of the world) or natural timidity. This phenomenon mainly occurs in small dogs, and my little Pomeranian is the best example. When

my Pomeranian was three and a half months old, "a dog alone" came to my home by plane from Beijing. At that time, it was already the early winter in the northwest, and it was a small one. I was afraid that it would catch a cold, get sick and so on, so I never took him out. After getting familiar with the environment for a few days, I began to vaccinate. The doctor told me that I couldn't take it out until the vaccine was finished. It was not until March next year that I took it out for the first time. He was almost eight months old.

Manifestations of "Going Out Phobia"

1. The first time I took him out, his eyes were so frightened that he hid in the doorway and didn't come out. 2. Pull it out with the traction rope, and it will lie on the ground motionless, and lie on the ground when it meets the steps. 3. He doesn't socialize with other dogs. It's easy to see that he doesn't play with other dogs. He just squats at my feet and trembles to watch other dogs play. Only

then did I realize that because of my overprotection, I might have missed the time to exercise it socially. After asking the doctor, I learned that 5-8 months is an important period for dogs to develop social skills and exercise their socialization. Shoveling officials must pay attention to this period.

How to Overcome "Going Out Phobia"

1.Traction rope

This is very important. I wrote it in the first one. It is not only a life-saving rope for dogs, but also something that can give dogs a sense of security, so that dogs can feel that you are around them all the time.

2. Air box

This is a good tool for dogs to gradually adapt to the external environment. You can put the dog in the air box first, take it out, and let it observe the outside world through the hole of the air box. After getting familiar with it, open the door of the air box and let it come out slowly.

3. Snacks

If the dog is very timid, you can use small snacks to lure it into the external environment, the dog's thinking is very simple, see snacks, forget the fear.

4. Small partners

Find a very bold little friend for the dog. You can let the dog play alone with his friends first, and give them a safe enough environment so that the dog can put down his guard and make friends first. Then gradually change the environment and slowly adapt to the outside world.

5.Patience

Be patient enough to guide the dog when he has fear behavior. Don't yell at him, hit him, or even drag him. This will only increase the dog's fear and make him more afraid to go out.
