The first time I took Kimi out, he was curious about everything outdoors. He would eat leaves, grass, paper towels and so on on the ground. Maybe this is the behavior of the "ignorant" puppy. After a few more times, I will not eat the leaves and paper towels on the ground.

However, grazing does occasionally occur, and it seems to be a common phenomenon among dogs. Dogs eat grass to clear their intestines. Pet doctors also point out that it is instinctive for dogs to eat grass in moderation. If they eat a lot of grass, they should take their dogs to the hospital for medical treatment.

Driven by curiosity

Kimi also had a history of eating shit when he was a puppy, but instead of eating his own shit, he ate other dogs'shit outdoors. There are many reasons why dogs eat shit, some are lack of trace elements, some are beaten and scolded by their owners because they shit at home, and so on. I think the main reason Kimi eats shit is curiosity and wants to get to know his kind in this way.

In order to solve his problem of eating shit, I did three things:

1. Buy trace elements for Kimi to take (although I don't think he lacks trace elements, but a dead horse should be treated as a living horse);

2. Pay attention to the ground when you go out to walk the dog, and pull Kimi away in time when you see poop;

3. When Kimi really goes to eat shit, he immediately opens his mouth and shakes it like dumping garbage until he spits it out, so he lets the shit stick to his hands several times;

Every time I encounter this situation, I will be very angry with the owners who walk the dog and don't pick up the shit. Fortunately, Kimi stopped eating the shit before long, and now she only smells the shit when she sees it outside.

Pick up food on the ground

Picking up food from the ground to eat is a behavior that Kimi has not corrected until now. Inside and outside the neighborhood, there will be children's unfinished snacks or bones thrown to stray dogs on the ground, which is a great temptation for Kimi. When I was young, every time Kimi ate outdoors, I would pull something out of his mouth and throw it away, and I would scold him. But instead of getting rid of this habit like some obedient dogs, he accelerated his eating as soon as he saw me bend down. Now when Kimi picks up small food outside, I often have no time to stop him, but when he picks up big food, he can't swallow it in one mouthful. I will wait by the side and pull him away when he spits it out.

At the same time, I also bought a muzzle, which can prevent dogs from picking up food on the ground and fighting with other dogs.

Steal food at home

When I was a child, I jumped on the tea table in order to steal snacks, but I couldn't get down after I went up.

We often joke that Kimi is a house thief. He had eaten apples, peaches, moon cakes on the tea table and cold syrup on the sofa. Fortunately, there was no problem. Kimi would also go through the trash can. In fact, a dog is a child, and when he makes a mistake, the main responsibility lies with the owner.

Now, we have replaced the garbage cans with lids, put syrups and medicines out of Kimi's reach, and put grapes and other things that dogs can't eat on the table to avoid dogs eating by mistake to the greatest extent. But the common fruit is still put on the tea table, so the behavior of stealing food still appears from time to time.

When dogs are young, the need to eat out of curiosity and grinding their teeth is more serious than that of adult dogs. So I still suggest that puppies should be kept in captivity when no one is at home, so as to prevent the danger of eating by mistake and avoid the destruction of furniture.
